I have previously uploaded JUNE’s I.L.X. mini-album. On March 11th, he returned with the single “Always”. He's Korean, but all his releases so far are Japanese. On another note, I will be taking a break from the "top 10" theme for my next rotation, which will probably be recent releases or an artist feature. ![]() 01. Always 02. Reason to believe 03. Can we talk (JUNE mix) 04. Always (Instrumental) The single kicks off with “Always”, a mid-tempo track with a lovely piano base and light, R&B-influenced accompaniment. The song as a whole is relaxing and soft. June’s light, sweet voice compliments the song perfectly. Although it’s quite a good song, paradoxically I don’t think it’s the kind of song that you would constantly listen to. It’s just not catchy and memorable enough, however well-executed it may be. “Reason to believe” takes a stronger, more urban beat, reminiscent of his I.L.X. material. It’s a decent b-side, but lacks the energy and aggressiveness that was present in the songs on I.L.X. I liked the piano arrangement, but other than that there was nothing that really stood out. “Can we talk (JUNE mix)” is a remake of a single by Tevin Campbell/Babyface. I really love the synths in the intro, leading into a smooth R&B number. JUNE’s English is nearly flawless, and he sounds at ease with the language. Despite sounding slightly dated, I thought this was a fairly good song. The arrangement can be a little overpowering, sometimes covering his voice. Not an outstanding single. I’ve heard better from him, and none of these songs really stood out to me as being particularly memorable. But it is a good, strong release, and I’m looking forward to hearing more from him.
