A little update for you guys, just four songs that I chose at random out of recent releases that I was listening to. A wide spectrum of artists, also a wide spectrum of quality *coughcoughSORIcoughcough* ![]() Korean | Pop/Dance 입술이 정말 - Sori (Ibseuri jeongmal) Never heard of her before, but I've heard a lot about how catchy this song is and decided to try it out. Big mistake. It's a little too heavy on the electronica for my taste. Sori, in an attempt to sound sexy, comes off as annoyingly throaty and over-synthesized. The song itself is fairly bland in terms of beat, riffs, and melody. I guess I can see why people might find it catchy as it's somewhat similar to ... I was going to say Wonder Girls but that would be an insult to them. I'm sorry, I just really didn't like this song. But like I said a lot of people thought it was catchy/good, so keep in mind this is just my opinion. 새끼손가락 (이준기/Lee Jun Ki Ver.) - Sori ft. Lee Jun Ki I only snagged this single for the track Jun Ki is in. I pretty much skipped all the parts that were her singing, because her voice is just so thin, girly, powerless, strained, rangeless ... okay, okay, I'll stop there. Anyways - if not for her voice, which is the reason why I do not like the majority of female pop singers, a poppy song that might have sounded decent if someone else sang it. Jun Ki is good enough at rapping, I guess, compared to most of the other boyband rappers. Jun Ki's verses are worth listening to, but that's about it. (But I will admit to being very biased towards Jun Ki, so I dunno.) ![]() Korean | Hip-Hop Beyond the Wall (Feat. Supreme Team) - Dynamic Duo A huge thank you to Dynamic Duo for actually producing music that doesn't make me cringe to listen to. Rapping is spot-on as expected, with a melodic chorus. A bright song with infectious beats. I love the little piano riffs and drums, everything just comes together perfectly. ![]() English | Pop/Rock Long Shot - Kelly Clarkson A dark-ish rock-influenced number from Kelly Clarkson's upcoming album, All I Ever Wanted. Something about the way the thick electric guitar fits with the main melody, led by her voice, is just so appealing. She's one of the few mainstream North American pop singers that I like - I will admit the lyrics/melodies can be corny and simple, but her songs are actually, for the most part, decent, IMO. Her voice has matured a lot and, I think, deepened a little too. She's come a long way, try this out. Labels: Dynamic Duo, Kelly Clarkson, Lee Jun Ki, Sori, Supreme Team |
